Health and Hygiene........It`s in your hands
by Robert Jordan....
How often do you wash your hands? A question I would like to pose to you.
Robert Jordan Director of Supreme Hygiene... Washroom Specialists in the West Midlands, went on to say... Our hands are brilliant tools but can harbour germs, viruses, and many other air borne infections that are not visible, and cannot be seen by the naked eye - meaning that they are lethal weapons in spreading diseases and other infections without trace.
Swine Flu for instance, has been a threat to the entire nation this winter, so it has become necessary and more important than ever to practice good hand hygiene within the working environment, and at home.
Viruses such as Swine Flu, and other Flu and Colds can be passed from one person to another via droplets in a cough and when sneezing, by covering your mouth or the simple use of a disposable tissue can help alleviate the spread of such airborne viruses, when this procedure occurs it is imperative that the hands are cleansed and washed to stop any spread of infection.
Adults suffer between two and five colds a year, and health experts believe that around 80 per cent of us spread these infections by hand to equipment and hard surfaces. It is also believed that colds and flu also cost employers money. In 2007-2008, workdays lost due to infections some 154,000 for men and 104,000 for women- giving an average of 5.9 days for women and 6.8 days for men.
Good Hand Hygiene is the most effective way to help eliminate the spread of bacteria we are aware of, and could improve and remove 90% of germs from hands. The use of Hand Protect Gel is also known to improve hand hygiene considerably, and can also show a caring, considerate image to your staff and all employees.
So let`s "get washing" - you know the importance of Clean Hands makes good common sense.
